KIU PHOTO CONTEST

KIU Photo Contest was organized with the support of Kutaisi International University. With this photo contest our main aim was to support the development of photography in Georgia by promoting professional growth of young photographers by identifying, supporting and strengthening their careers. The contest was open to professional and amateur photographers (legal citizens of Georgia) from 15 to 30 years old.

The theme of the contest was “Georgia – Stories told with the images”. Participants were free in the interpretation of the topic and the aesthetics of the work. We encourage the creative approach.  

KIU Photo Contest had three main categories:  Professional Photographers, Amateur Photographers and Single Shot category. Our renowned jury will selected three winners from each category who received cash prizes. 

Members of the jury included: MaryAnne Golon - Director of Photography at The Washington Post; Alessia Glaviano - senior photo editor for Vogue Italia; Azu Nwagbogu - Founder and Director of African Artists' Foundation (AAF) and Director of LagosPhoto Festival; Thomas Dworzak - photographer and former director of MAGNUM PHOTOS agency; Natela Grigalashvili - freelance documentary photographer and photojournalist from Georgia. 

Prizes for the winners in Professional Photographers’ category:

I place - 10 000 GEL; II place - 7 000 GEL; III place - 4 000 GEL

Prizes for the winners in Amateur Photographers’ category:

I place - 7 000 GEL; II place - 5 000 GEL; III place - 3 000 GEL

Prizes for the winners in Single Shot  category:

I place - 3 000 GEL; II place - 2 000 GEL; III place - 1 000 GEL
